New E3 Category for 2012 - Industrial Waste Practice. The top winner in this category earns AAEE's Award as well as the W. Wesley Eckenfelder Industrial Waste Management Medal!
The E3 Competition for 2012 is an entirely electronic submission process. Participants may submit their completed entry directly online. We all know how important it is to communicate complex and challenging issues to the public at large and other constituents. With this in mind, AAEE is inviting you to enter the inaugural year of this important new award. In cooperation with the International Water Association and the PIA Awards, the Academy is proud to offer a new area of competition and invites Consulting firms and municipalities alike to enter. The winner will be announced at the Excellence in Environmental Engineering Awards Banquet & Conference. Renewal notices for the 2012 Certifications were emailed to all Certified Members Wednesday, October 5, and Friday, November 4 and mailed the week of January 9. Please renew as soon as possible. To renew, log into the AAEE Center, and go to "Renew Now." If you are logging in for the first time, your log in name is your primary email address. Your temporary password is Password1. Please review and update your Personal Data under "My Information" no later than January 31, 2012. The 2011 Environmental Engineering Selection & Career Guide once again exceeded all expectations! Four thousand guides were printed and distributed to members, affiliates, colleges and universities. The guides have been distributed in 2011 and will continue to be distributed through mid-April 2012 at the respective conferences of NYWEA, LMOP, NJWEA, AWWA, A&WMA, SWANA, APWA, WQTC, EPA's Annual National Sustainable Design Expo; US EPA's P3 Competition on the National Mall; Wasser Berlin, Germany; FWRC; EWRI, AEESP Education & Research Conference; AAEE Dinner Seminar, Orange County; WEFTEC; and other events. Invitations to participate in the 2012 edition will be e-mailed early January. Distribution will begin in April 2012 through mid-April 2013! Reserve your space by February 15, 2012. 2012 President Mike Selna has finalized committee appointments for the Academy's next program year (January 1 to December 31) and appointment letters were mailed to those newly appointed this year. Following is a list of those who will chair the Academy's committees:

The California Water Environment Association will hold its Annual Conference April 17-20, 2012 at the Sacramento Convention Center. The Engineering and Research Committee/AAEE Breakfast will be held from 7:00 am to 8:30 am Friday, April 20, featuring Dr. Julian Sandino, P.E., BCEE, IWA Fellow. New Jersey Water Environment Association will hold its 97th Annual Conference May 13-17 at Bally's Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. AAEE is presenting its 3rd Annual full-day preconference workshop (with TCHs, PDHs and CEUs) on Monday, May 14. The title is - Appalachian Shale Gas - Environmental Policy, Development Activities, and Management Practices. The AAEE breakfast will be held at the hotel on Tuesday, May 15 at 7 a.m. AAEE will also be exhibiting at this event and volunteers are needed. To volunteer, e-mail JSOlmo@aaee.net.
