AAEE received more than 900 ballots for electing the 2012 Officers and Trustees. The Tellers Committee will meet Thursday, June 23rd to count ballots. The results will be announced in the Summer issue of Environmental Engineer.
The 2011 editions will be available by July 15 and will be mailed to all members.
On May 2, the Admissions Committee completed evaluations of over 120 applications paving the way for examinations to be conducted during July and August. Coupled with holdovers from previous years, more than 150 examinations will be administered this summer. If you are called upon to serve on a peer review panel or as a Chief Examiner, your cooperation and assistance in this effort will be appreciated and you will receive 0.5 PDH credit per interview.
Fifty BCEE/BCEEMs chosen at random have received notices for the 2011 audit. Each person audited must supply the Recertification Committee with documentation substantiating at least 40 Professional Development Hours (PDHs). The PDHs are acquired by continuing professional development activities during calendar years January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010 to assure compliance with the continuing professional development required for Active and Life Active specialty certification. Those who have been audited within the past 10 years are exempt from the current cycle.
All BCEE/BCEEMs are reminded to encourage their friends and associates to submit their applications for specialty certification. Do not wait for the last minute to help an associate receive the recognition and prestige that comes with becoming a Board Certified Environmental Engineer or Board Certified Environmental Engineering Member (non-PE). Certification information and applications are available online at www.aaee.net under Membership.
The work of the Academy's Examination Committees (one for each specialty) is never-ending. As soon as an examination is fully updated, it is almost time to begin the cycle again. And when work on the written examinations is in a phase outside a committee (for example, field testing of replacement test items), there is work needed on the oral examinations. The Hazardous Waste Management Committee and Air Pollution Control Committee are currently updating their exams.
Just a reminder that the Staff Summer Hours started Memorial Day Weekend with closing the office on Fridays at 12:00 p.m., and will continue until Labor Day Weekend.
Regional Academy meetings have been organized. These are great opportunities to both learn and network with fellow Academy members. Make your plans to attend!
