2011 Annual Meeting

The 2011 Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, at ERM's Austin Office, Texas. Registration packages were e-mailed to Officers & Trustees, Committee Chairs, and State Representatives last month. A complete Agenda will be sent to those attending as we get closer to the meeting date. If you have not received your package, please call HQ immediately at (410.266.3311). All members of the Academy are welcome to attend. An optional Welcome Dinner and show at Esther's Follies, Texas' premier magic and comedy troupe, is planned starting 5:30 p.m. Friday, November 11.

Treat Your Spouse! - New this year, an AAEE Spouse Program will enjoy the spectacular magic of Austin's urban scene, "hip" shopping, live music, history, culture, outdoors, local art, Hill Country vistas and lakes, on a fully narrated luxury bus tour. Corporate Sponsor(s) Needed - AAEE is seeking corporate sponsors for the 2011 Annual Meeting, November 12, Austin, Texas. Three levels of commitment are available: Level III ($1,000) includes vocal and signage recognition at the BOT Meeting, evening dinner, and spouse program, your logo/link on the AAEE Website home page for one month, and recognition at the AAEE Exhibit Booth during WEFTEC. Level II ($2,000) includes all of the above, enhanced acknowledgement in Environmental Engineer, and your logo/link on the AAEE Website home page for two months. Level I ($3,000) includes all the above, your logo/link on the AAEE Website home page for three months and an invitation to attend the Annual Meeting and Board Dinner as AAEE's guest. 2012 Kappe Lecturer

The 2012 Kappe Lecturer is Dr. Vladimir Novotny, CDM Chair & Professor & Director, Northeastern University. Details on his lectures will be reported in the Winter issue of Environmental Engineer.

2012 Excellence in Environmental Engineering Competition (E3)

Begin planning your entries now - because obtaining permissions from various departments can cause delays. The deadline for entries is February 1, 2012. Last year's program achieved outstanding results in both entries and attendance! Entering the E3 Awards is a prerequisite for entering the North American category of the IWA PIA Awards. New this year is the Industrial Waste Practice category. The top winner in this category earns AAEE's Award as well as the W. Wesley Eckenfelder Industrial Waste Management Medal!

The E3 Competition for 2012 is an entirely electronic submission process. Participants will be able to submit their completed entry directly online. Judging will also be conducted electronically allowing for an unlimited geographic representation of judges. For details, click here.

AAEE Career Center

The interactive job board is free to members who are seeking employment. The site provides employers and recruiters with highly qualified environmental engineering job candidates. Employers may post available positions directly to the Career Center for a fee of $495/position for a 30 day listing. Payment is made online by credit card. Internship postings are free! 2011 AAEE Events

September 20: AAEE Breakfast at APWA International Public Works Congress & Exposition - September 18-21. Join Keynote Speaker Jake Keller, Vice President, Parsons Brinckerhoff for this eye-opening discussion: "Adapting to the Impact of Climate Change on roads and Bridges," from 7:00 to 8:15 a.m. in room 404 of the Colorado Convention Center. Network with Board Certified Environmental Engineer and Board Certified Environmental Engineering Member leaders of consulting firms and agencies and other leaders of the profession. September 22: AAEE West Coast Dinner & Networking Seminar - This exceptional seminar, to be held at the OCWD Headquarters, 18700 Ward Street, Fountain Valley, CA, titled "GMs Pioneer Recycled Water Use in Southern California: and features Orange County Water District General Manager, Mike Markus, and Orange County Sanitation District Assistant General Manager, Jim Herberg, who will discuss new frontiers they are pioneering through a partnership that focuses on an advanced water purification project to help meet the challenge of securing future water supplies. October 17: AAEE/AIDIS/WEF Breakfast at the 84th Annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference - at the Los Angeles Convention Center, October 15-19. The Breakfast will be held on Monday, October 4 in Los Angeles. Join Keynote Speaker Brian P. Flynn, President of AAEE, Principal MRE, Inc. in discussion: "Startup of Large-Scale Industrial-PACT® Process. This is a full breakfast buffet ($25). To register, click here. AAEE Members: Now is the time to identify and encourage qualified candidates to apply for AAEE Board Certification in Environmental Engineering. Annual Certification Renewal

Renewal notices for the 2012 Certifications will be e-mailed to you within the next two weeks. Upon receipt, please log into the AAEE Center and complete your renewal as soon as possible. Please be sure to review and update your data under "My Information" no later than December 31, 2011. It is important to get corrections on your Member Data to the Academy to ensure those changes are printed in the 2012 edition of Who's Who in Environmental Engineering. If you haven't received the Academy's renewal notice by October 10, please contact Joyce Dowen at jdowen@aaee.net.
