The Academy's Membership and Certification Programs
The American Academy of Environmental Engineers provides a structure for advancing your career as an environmental engineer.
Membership Program
- Student Members: If you're a college student and currently enrolled in an environmental engineering program, you can gain admission into the Academy as a Student Member. There is no fee. For more information, click here.
- Members: This level is for recent graduate with an EIT certificate or for recently licensed (PE) engineers working in environmental engineering. For more information, click here.
Certification Program
AAEE offers two options for CESB-accredited certification. One is for Licensed Engineers (PE)s, the other is for Non-Licensed Engineering Practitioners.
Licensed Engineers (PE)s
- Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE): To apply for the BCEE, you must be a licensed, professional engineer with at least eight years of full-time environmental engineering and/or teaching experience. To become a BCEE, you must take a written exam and sit for a Peer Review. If you have more than 16 years of experience, you may request a waiver of the written exam. Specialty certification provides independent testimony to your expertise. For more information, click here.
