President Cecil Lue-Hing Inducted into NACWA'S Hall of Fame

To mark its 40th anniversary, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), formerly the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA), has established a NACWA Hall of Fame. Inductees to the NACWA Hall of Fame have, through their actions and commitment to the organization, made a significant positive impact on either the evolution of the Association or its ability to effectively represent the interest of the clean water community.


Austin Science and Engineering Festival

Festival Event Dates: October 2 - October 22, 2010
Expo at the Austin Convention Center: October 23 & 24, 2010

The inaugural USA Science and Engineering Festival will be held in October in Washington DC. The festival promises to be the ultimate multi-disciplinary celebration of science and engineering in the US.

As a satellite event of the USA festival, the Austin Science and Engineering Festival will also be held in October in Austin, Texas. The Austin Festival will showcase the remarkable technology of Austin. The Austin festival plans to host events throughout the community from October 2-22. The Festival culminates in a two-day Expo at the Austin Convention Center with over 150 science & engineering exhibits of hands-on, fun science and engineering activities to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Environmental Engineer Specialists Available for Oil Spill and Environmental Assessment Interviews

Annapolis, MD - 05/01/2010 - The American Academy of Environmental Engineers assembled a roster of Board Certified Environmental Engineers or Diplomate Environmental Engineers (BCEE or DEE) with expertise in oil spill control and environmental damage assessment, remediation. They have agreed to be available for interviews and to offer their insights.

To make a request, please email or call Joseph Cavarretta, Executive Director of the Academy, at JCava@aaee.net, 410.266.3311, or 703.608.9665, and provide your contact information, desired time for interview, and nature of interview.

AAEE will then provide you with the roster.


AAEE K-12 Committee has created an Engineering Student Contest "Design Your Sustainable Dream House"

The contest is open to all students at schools across the country. Two winning entries: one for grade-school/middle school students and one for high school students, will receive a trip to Washington, DC and be awarded during the US Science & Engineering Festival in October. Volunteers are needed to help spread the word among schools. Sponsorships and donations are needed. They will be tax deductible as all monies will go through the Environmental Engineering Foundation.

USA Science and Engineering Festival: 10/10/10 to 10/24/10

The Inaugural USA Science & Engineering Festival will be the country's first national science festival and will descend on the Washington, D.C. area in the Fall of 2010. The Festival promises to be the ultimate multi-cultural, multi-generational and multi-disciplinary celebration of science in the United States. The culmination of the Festival will be a two-day Expo in the nation's capital that will give over 500 science & engineering organizations from all over the United States the opportunity to present themselves with a hands-on, fun science activity to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. Engineers Without Borders - UCF

Engineers Without Borders - UCF is currently working on a project to build a 15 thousand gallon cistern, distribute slow sand filters to help with water purification, and to teach the village how to build composting latrines. The village we are working with is called Mare Brignol and we have been working with the village for a year and a half now. The area were currently focusing on is designing the Cistern, and raising money. We hope to build the cistern in December 2010. Any help we get would be very much appreciated.
