Academy Specialty Certification
Tell the World You are Board-Certified in Your Specialty
Today's complex engineering projects demand more than just a general knowledge of engineering practice -- they require the special expertise that is gained only through years of experience. If you are a licensed engineer with at least eight years of full-time environmental engineering experience, the next logical step in your career development is to be board-certified in your specialty and to become a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) or Board Certified Environmental Engineering Member (BCEEM).
The BCEE and BCEEM titles are internationally recognized as premium credentials that are awarded to experienced professionals who have demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of specialization.
Some of the benefits of becoming a BCEE or BCEEM include:
- Objective testimony to your special expertise and level of proficiency beyond that which is required to practice as a professional engineer (P.E. license not required to become a BCEEM)
- A biographical listing as a BCEE or BCEEM in Who's Who in Environmental Engineering -- the recognized guide to the current leaders in environmental engineering;
- Participation in programs that encourage the hiring of BCEEs and BCEEMs through distribution of the Who's Who in Environmental Engineering and the Environmental Engineering Selection & Career Guide
- Complimentary subscription to the Environmental Engineer, the quarterly periodical of AAEE that focuses on environmental engineering history, professional practice issues, and environmental policy;
- Discounts on publications available through the Environmental Engineering Bookstore;
- Discounted entry fees for the annual Excellence in Environmental Engineering competition, which provides public recognition of quality environmental engineering
projects and programs; and
- Exciting opportunities to participate in advancing the state-of-the-art of the environmental engineering profession through participation in Academy committees.
