To better define the knowledge and skills required for the practice of environmental engineering, the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE) sponsored a Body of Knowledge Working Group (BOKWG) to define the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to practice environmental engineering at the professional level. The Working Group adopted an outcomes based approach and identified 18 outcomes. Bloom's Taxonomy enhanced by the Daggett Rigor/Relevance Framework was used to identify the cognitive rigor and applicative relevance level expected for each outcome at the baccalaureate, masters (or equivalent) and after 4 or more years of professional experience. The Working Group Draft Report summarized here is undergoing a peer review by educators and practitioners.
