2008 ELECTION
The unofficial 2008 Officers and Trustees election winners are:
  • Debra R. Reinhart -- President-Elect
  • Cecil Lue-Hing -- Vice President
  • Trustee-at-Large -- C. Robert Baillod
  • Trustee-at-Large -- Gary S. Logsdon
Confirmation of their election will occur at the 2007 Annual Meeting and the installation will be November 2, 2007. Their terms start January 1, 2008.

Leaving the Board on December 31st are: Alan H. Vicory, Jr., Past-President; John D. Booth and Brian P. Flynn, Trustees-at-Large; and Pasquale S. Canzano, representing AIChE.

COMMITTEE CHAIRS are requested to advise Executive Director Larry Pencak by letter on or before September 1, 2007 of any items they intend for the Board to address including Committee Policies & Procedures when it meets November 1st. All such documents are needed by September 1st for Executive Committee review.

ABET PROGRAM EVALUATOR TRAINING SESSION 2007
A special training session for those seeking to be Program Evaluators in accreditation of environmental engineering education programs has been scheduled for Sunday, October 14th at the San Diego Convention Center. The course lasts all day and will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m. The registration of $150 includes breakfast, lunch, breaks and copies of course materials. AAEE/WEF/AIDIS BREAKFAST
The AAEE/WEF/AIDIS Breakfast will be held on Monday, October 15th at the San Diego Convention Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. The featured speaker is Terry Rogers, environmental reporter for the San Diego Union-Tribune. SUMMER ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
The next issue of the Environmental Engineer will include the annual Farkus Berkowitz State of the Industry Report, as well as the AAEE Audited Financial Statements for 2006, and listings of Academy contributors.

2007 ANNUAL MEETING
The 2007 Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Friday, November 2nd. Meeting details are currently being finalized.

IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY
All Board Certified Environmental Engineers are reminded to encourage their friends and associates to submit their applications for specialty certification now and not wait for the March 31, 2008 deadline. Early submittal ensures a place in the 2008 examination cycle and enables the Admissions Committee to avoid the last minute rush.

CAMPAIGN 4000
Since June 12th when President Steve Kellogg announced Campaign 4000 (http://www.aaee.net/Website/Campaign4000.html) and its $150,000 goal to fund the initiatives in the new AAEE 5-Year Strategic Plan, $23,750 in pledges have been received.

FREE HS&E NEWSLETTER
AAEE member George Holliday, Ph.D., P.E., BCEE produces a weekly HS&E Newsletter that is sent to about 4000 Environmental and Safety oriented engineers around the world. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers Environmental Engineering Division and the Society of Petroleum HS&E Technical Interest Group post the Newsletter weekly.
