2010 Application Deadline Approaching

March 31, 2010 is the deadline for prospective and existing members to complete and submit applications for specialty certification for the 2010 certification cycle. All applications postmarked on or before March 31, 2010 will be included in the 2010 cycle of examinations. The Admissions Committee will review and recommend these applications for examination on April 26. Generally, all examinations will be conducted from late June to August in geographic locations based on those applying. The Admissions Committee will review examination results and related documents in September and provide recommendations for certification to the Board of Trustees. The Board shall act on these recommendations at its Annual Meeting in November. Make sure those professional associates who you are encouraging to apply don't miss this deadline.

There is Still Time to be Listed in the 2010 Environmental Engineering Selection & Career Guide

Whether you are a consulting firm or a public agency or utility, the Selection & Career Guide is an excellent, cost-effective, way to stay in front of customers year round and a wonderful way to support the Academy. AAEE distributes thousands of Selection Guides free at Sponsoring Organization conferences and AAEE activities. It is always a hot commodity as operators, engineers, scientists, project managers, students, and others go out of their way to pick one up at the AAEE Booth.

Don't miss your opportunity to be listed among the top consulting firms in the world. All public organizations receive a free simple listing (name, address, telephone contact, and Web site). Listings including a 100-word description cost $350 and $60 for each BCEE/M listed.

Selection Guide Is Also Published Online

The 2010 edition will be available online, significantly broadening your exposure. (Last year, almost 3,600 individuals downloaded the Selection Guide.) Plus each firm's website is linked to the firm's listing enabling interested persons to immediately learn more about each firm's capabilities.

Awards Luncheon Adds Keynote Speaker and Technical Conference

The Academy will recognize four distinguished environmental engineers at its Awards Luncheon to be held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on Wednesday, April 28, 2010:

Keynote Speaker

AAEE is honored to present Major General Jeffrey Talley, Ph.D., P.E., former Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering at Notre Dame University and now Chair and Professor, Department of Environmental & Civil Engineering Southern Methodist University, Bobby B. Lyle Professor of Leadership and Global Entrepreneurship Founding Director, Hunter and Stephanie Hunt Institute for Engineering and Humanity. The title of Major General Talley's presentation is: Building Communities: Baghdad and Beyond.

Technical Conference

Immediately following the Awards Luncheon, five outstanding projects will be presented followed by Q&A. AAEE will be offering PDHs and certificates of attendance for CEU consideration for all states except Florida and New York. Presentations are as follows:

2010 Certification Renewal Complete

The certification renewals for 2010 have been received and processed. Production of Who's Who in Environmental Engineering® for 2010 has begun. (About 300 missed the January 31 deadline and unfortunately cannot be included in the 2010 edition.)

Environmental Engineer

The Winter 2010 issue of the Environmental Engineer® was mailed early February. It features the "Class of 2009".

Board of Trustees to Meet

The Board of Trustees will hold its mid-year meeting April 29 to review important Academy business.

AAEE Meetings

Regional Academy meetings have been organized. These are great opportunities to both learn and network with fellow Academy members. Make your plans to attend!
