BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
The Board of Trustees held their spring meeting on April 29 in Washington, DC at the ARCADIS office. Thanks to Dennis Kamber for making this possible.
Highlights of the meeting include:
- Presentation of the 2009 Audit Report (full audit information will be reprinted in the next issue of the Environmental Engineer).
- Approved Eminence Committee Report
- Approved formation of Young Professionals Committee
- Approved formation of Seminars and Workshop Committee
OFFICER ELECTIONS
The Ballots for electing the 2011 Officers and Trustees were mailed first class the week of April 1. Ballots are due June 15, 2010.
AWARDS LUNCHEON
Kicking off this year's Awards Luncheon was a champagne reception featuring displays of the winning projects in the 2010 Excellence in Environmental Engineering competition. The keynote speaker was Major General Jeffrey Talley, Ph.D., P.E., Chair and Professor, Department of Environmental & Civil Engineering, Southern Methodist University. The title of his presentation was Building Communities: Baghdad and Beyond. Following the presentation, individual awards were presented to:

AAEE MEETINGS
Regional Academy meetings have been organized. These are great opportunities to both learn and network with fellow Academy members. Make your plans to attend!
- AAEE/AIDIS/AWWA Luncheon - The Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, June 23 at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Chicago 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. AAEE will be exhibiting at the Conference June 20-24. Organized by Steven Quail.
- AAEE/AWMA Breakfast - The Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, June 23 at the Hyatt in Calgary 7 to 8 a.m. The Trickle Down Effect of Clean Water Sustainability will be discussed. AAEE will be exhibiting at the Conference June 22-24. Organized by Gary Gasperino.
- APWA International Public Works Congress - AAEE will be hosting a breakfast and exhibiting at APWA's Congress & Exposition in Boston, MA, August 15-18. The Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, August 17. The featured speaker is Jason E. Cosby, P.E., Director Public works city of Virginia Beach. The title of his speech is "Effective Public Works Management in the Next Decade". Organized by Lamont "Bud" Curtis.
- AAEE/AIDIS/WEF Breakfast - The Breakfast will be held on Monday, October 4 in New Orleans, LA. The Academy will be exhibiting again in 2010. Organized by Dick Kuchenrither.
DESIGN YOUR SUSTAINABLE DREAM HOUSE
AAEE K-12 Committee has created an Engineering Student Contest: "Design Your Sustainable Dream House." The contest is open to all students at schools across the country. Two winning entries: one for grade-school/middle school students and one for high school students, will receive a trip to Washington, DC and be awarded during the US Science & Engineering Festival in October. Volunteers are needed to help spread the word among schools. Sponsorships and donations are needed. They will be tax deductible as all monies will go through the Environmental Engineering Foundation.
