At it's meeting in April 2005, the Academy's Board of Trustees made several changes in Membership Categories.

They eliminated the former "Affiliate" categories of "Intern," "Associate," and "Professor," instead opting for one broad category of "Member."

An AAEE Member is anyone who has a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in environmental (or related) engineering and is currently practicing in the field or actively engaged in teaching. Members do not need to possess a P.E. License.

Members have the right to vote in Academy Elections and on other issues put to the membership from time to time.

Members may serve on Committees and also have representation on the Board of Trustees, as well as attend any academy meetings on a local, regional or national level.

The Membership category is a first step in your life long career in environmental engineering. It is the Academy's sincerest desire that every member will aspire to undergo the process for obtaining Specialty Certification once they have reached the appropriate amount of training and experience.
