Cedar Water Treatment Facility
HONOR AWARD — DESIGN ENTRANT: CH2M Hill
The resulting design integrates state-of-the-art ultraviolet and ozone injection technologies into the site with minimal impact on surrounding wetland and forested areas. The new technologies mean SPU can avoid building a costly filtration plant, saving approximately $200 million. The highly automated plant operates 24/7 with just six staff and as Seattle’s needs grow, the facility can be expanded to treat 75 mgd.
