Advancing Your Career

The Academy's Membership and Certification Programs

The American Academy of Environmental Engineers provides a structure for advancing your career as an environmental engineer, from the Members Program to Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE, previously referred to as Diplomate) or Board Certified Member (BCM) that gives you full membership in the Academy.

If you're a recent graduate with an EIT certificate or  a recently licensed (registered) engineer working in environmental engineering but without the eight years of experience required for specialty certification, you can still take advantage of the benefits that the Academy has to offer through the Member program.

If you are a licensed, professional environmental engineer with at least eight years of full-time environmental engineering experience, specialty certification provides independent testimony to your special expertise and qualifies you for full membership in the Academy as a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) or Board Certified Member (BCM).
